It's all well and good for me to sit here at the keyboard and tell you that you need to get your teens into counseling, but I'm really not that naive. Just as there are some people we can't relate to, there will be some counselors that we cannot relate to. Don't expect a knock down drag out clash of personalities. You can do everything possible to lead your teen to a counselor, and they still may refuse. As you well know, teens can get stubborn and we parents won't really know what we're talking about until our kids are probably our age. Do not throw up your hands in frustration. There is still much you can accomplish to help yourself as well as your teen by utilizing that counseling session for yourself. The added advantage of this is that your obstinate teen will see this as you being the one who needs a "shrink" anyway and might be persuaded to see the counselor at a later date in order to "help" the doctor understand your problems better ;-)
