 Programs
Jails and detention centers are places that mix juveniles and adults together who are both non-adjudicated and/or awaiting trial. Schall v. Martin (1984) allows preventive detention under some circumstances. Many youth placed in this status are only guilty of minor violations. They are troubled youth or status offenders MORE...
Media Influence
Popular explanations of juvenile crime often rest on ideas about the corrupting influence of television, movies, music videos, video games, rap/hip hop music, or the latest scapegoat du jour, computer games like Doom or Quake. The fact is that TV is much more pervasive, and has become the de facto babysitter in many homes MORE...
 Parental Accountability Laws
Also called Parental Duty Laws, a number of states have experimented with subjecting the parents of children to arrest. Florida, for example, imposes a 5-year sentence on parents of children who find and use guns left around the house... MORE
 Waivers of Jurisdiction
Waivers of jurisdiction transfer a case from juvenile to adult court. The effect is to deny some offenders the rights and protections that have evolved in juvenile law. All states provide for some type of waiver mechanism, and most set a lower age limit (13 and 14 in a handful of states MORE...
Social Morality
It has become prevalent, especially among the slacker generations, GenX and Gen13, to join the old WWII generation in self-righteous, totally gratuitous Sixties-bashing, as if all our social problems, especially our declining social morality, started with the free-for-all, "any thing goes" hippie movement of the 1960s MORE...
JUVENILE CORRECTIONS
The total number of juveniles in custody for the U.S. is about 42,000. Most of these youth are held in semisecure facilities (such as youth centers or training schools) designed to look less like prisons and more like high schools MORE...

Troubled Teens 4 Jesus - Services
(see option 1, 2 or 3 below)

I am an experienced Educational Consultant that has the ability and knowledge to work with struggling adolescents and their families.

I do a complete family evaluation and gather important information to help determine appropriate placement for your son or daughter.

I believe that it takes the ability to look “outside the box” for solutions and help. Every child and family member is unique in their talents, interests, and struggles. Every day there are triumphs, failures, and learning experiences.

When one child is struggling, the whole family unit is affected. Emotions also have a tendency to cloud judgment during the times of crisis. That is why it is important to understand that the healing process is a journey that will include all of the family.

Option # 1 Inclusive Educational Consulting Services. This is normally a 10-14 day process.

The parent downloads the application and evaluation packet, fills them out completely and faxes the documents to the “Restoring Troubled Teens” office. The Restoring Troubled Teen educational consultant reviews the packet and then conducts a comprehensive child and family intake interview. This service may include a review of hospital discharge records (when applicable), a review of Diagnostic Testing (when applicable), and a review of IEP (when applicable), all with the intent of obtaining pertinent background information that will help to determine the best program or school program for your child.

The Restoring Troubled Teen consultant then researches many prospective schools or programs to inquire about availability, cost, and other pertinent enrollment information. During the research phase the Educational Consultant whittles down the list of prospective schools to three possible “exact” matches. An "exact” match is a term that describes the best program or school for the child. This is determined through a comprehensive investigation of both the child and the prospective schools.

Includes assistance with West ShieldAdolescent Services, if needed.

Once the child is placed we stay in touch with the parent and the school for the first 30 days to ensure success and compatibility .

OPTION # 2 CRISIS and IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE AND ENROLLMENT

This is for a family who needs their child in a program immediately (72 hours).

With this option the Educational Consultant will be working around the clock to ensure an IMMEDIATE safe and secure admissions and enrollment. The consultant performs a comprehensive child and family intake, reviews hospital discharge records (when applicable), reviews Diagnostic Testing (when applicable), reviews IEP (when applicable), with the intent of obtaining pertinent background information that will help to determine the best program or school program for the child.

Includes assistance with West Shield Adolescent Services, if needed.

The Environment
Unless we are willing to believe that testosterone (a male stimulation-seeking hormone) causes crime, the only feasible explanations left are environmental ones. The heredity-environment debate in explaining juvenile crime is shaped by divided opinions about what factors are really important: genetic tendencies MORE...
Approaches to the problem generally fall into two camps: the public health solution, and the law enforcement solution. Advocates of the public health approach tend to see juveniles today as victims of an anti-youth culture. The problem is not just parents failing children, but a whole attitude among adult society that is increasingly hostile, angry, and punishing toward youth. It's also not just poverty

The total number of juveniles in custody for the U.S. is about 42,000.  Family Factors
One of the most reliable indicators of juvenile crime is the proportion of fatherless children. The primary role of fathers in our society is to provide economic stability, act as role models, and alleviate the stress of mothers. Marriage has historically been the great civilizer of male populations, channeling predatory instincts into provider/protector impulses. Economically, marriage has MORE...
